😄👍👏
Neat.
If you move the date up to around 1500, you can say the Spanish caused multiple cultures to disappear.
You're a great communicator
This one is a rare video that actually taught me something I genuinely didn't know and can apply in real life with a reasonable effort. Where my grandmother lived, there are clay pockets everywhere, natural white, yellow and red clay, because it's by the river. The land has sled towards the river, and it looks like white sponge cake with black soil icing on top where trees grow. I agree with the people who say they thought clay was a material different from regular soil. I imagine, primitive people used to play with dirt just like children do, and it would dry out in the sun or in a bonfire, and the dudes would be like "I have an idea".
I think the time-frame coincides with 'The Dark Ages' we had in Europe. There was some kind of climatic event that blocked out the sun for hundreds of years. Maybe it also occured in other parts of the world?
This is nonsense. Europeans arrive and warfare wipes out all the native Americans coincidentally at the same time? What a joke
Europeans
Maybe the world had a reset around that time
The flood...
WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE DEMISE OF THE MOUNDBUILDER & EARTHWORK COMPLEX BUILDING CIVILIZATIONS OF THE MISSISSIPPI, OHIO, & POTOMAC VALLEYS ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE NORTH & SOUTH EAST COAST REGIONS THE MYSTERY BECOMES THAT MUCH LARGER
That white stuff that you said you wasn't sure about what it was, it look like it could me chalk, maybe?
Hello I'm in Dallas tx, and it's hard for me to get some clay here, is there any kind of way if possible that you could ship me some?
Two hypotheses: 1. Some Linguists historians believe the Athapaskan speaking people arrived in the region around that time. 2. This is around the same time as the mound building civilization in the Mississippi declined. Which corresponds with the “Little Ice age” in Europe and other parts of the world. It was probably a combination climate change, disease, famine, and warfare.
Replicas are much harder for me to make no matter what it is. Originals can look like anything but replicas have so many details that need to be met.
Ehhhh. I guessed 7 coils. I could tell by coil 4 that my guess was WAY off. Anyways, thanks for another great video!!
Thanks for watching and playing along
I guessed 12 coils - but thought I'd be WAY off.
That's pretty close
@@AncientPottery I'm on the textile side of things and was thinking how I would do a coil basket that size, so I'm shocked that I guessed that well. Your pot turned out so beautifully!
You mentioned The King of Random. You look like his big brother.
Thank You!
Beautiful pot!
Thank you! 😊
That was great!
What’s the differences between the clay not what is it go go shopping and make clay.
‘Southwest’ of where?
I thought it would be 15 coils
Not quite that many
Beautiful results! A shame about the carbon deposit. Thanks for the video. Hypnotic credits with the spinning pot.
Thanks. Like someone said, the carbon spot makes it look more authentic.
GG It's beautiful!
Thanks! 😄
Amazing artwork
That is your best reduced iron paint!
Yes, now to see if I can do it again.
You pose an interesting quandary: how did the ancients dry their pots uniformly? Would they have access to large amounts of grass or woven grass in Arizona? Perhaps they covered the pots in cover sherds. Anything to minimize airflow, rate of moisture loss, and heating. If you dampened the coverings, then they would humidify the pot somewhat uniformly, and as they dried they would dry the pot somewhat uniformly. Give it a try with a tall tubular pot. If the bedding of the pot were to rest on top of plant matter, then it should also be able to participate in the humidification and drying.
Good thoughts. Yes they had grass and woven matts as well as woven cloth. I have wondered about the use of damp cotton cloth but have never experimented with that.
instant subsribe! Thank you, Thank you!

If you adjust your timeline a bit you will find this coincides with the invasion of the Mediterranean, invasion by the sea peoples. Nobody knew why these many peoples fled their land nor where that land was or so they say. Coincidence? You may say so because you are ill equipped to rewrite the history of the Americas and nobody will help you tell the story of these people because they refuse to acknowledge them, they refuse to say their name. Willfull blindness is the reason. Ask Putin, he's at war with them right now and he has acknowledged them as Atlanteans but maybe they would better be called North Americans.
Might sickness have played a part in this?
All before gaius caesar was laid bare, crops cut with not a single stalk left standing. People affected faced a choice death or slavery. Thats long before they got to England. Slavery fueled all conquest even that of your beloved Alexander the Great. Only one thing makes any sense and that's conquest. Its there in petroglyph someplace. Kids will be kids and all.
Desert drifter filmed some petroglyphs that showed shields and a huge fence like shield. Mad angry faces in the same. That was a Mayan way of war. Lest you forget the largest civilization on earth at the time was south of the border, and they collapsed too. I bet it was conquest!
By the time the drought hit the population of the area had ballooned through the earlier wet centuries and the introduction of farming. Suddenly the rains stopped and social chaos gripped the land and people essentially starved out and left because the area was now unsafe. To those people, the land, whether it could now support a smaller population or not, became "snake bit." And as the land dried out and the atmosphere became less humid, night sky often became clear and much colder than before. Firewood supplies were used up faster than they could grow back -- again, the land became unlivable.
I have a volume of Smithsonian from c.1878. I bought it for Frank Cushing's work on Hopi and Zuni. There are thousands of illustrations of what is easily recognizable as "Aztec". The pottery and carved figures are found in Arkansas and north south and even east of Arkasas, maybe to Tennesee. Probably 400,000sq mi of "Aztec" style pottery. It's Never spoken of and when I was in school, c. 1976, the "Aztec" was verbotten. It is a coincidence, a non issue. The Smithonian shows to me that these folks down in Mexico had something going on for some centuries. Aztec, if you look at the human images, is not a friendly people. I've Never seen one representation of a human that has any kindness in the face or behavior. All hard and brutal. I think that the people down in Mexico were doing up north the same thing they did in Mexico. Pursue, capture, ritually kill humans. (I have not seen this Aztec pottery in the four corners area but is certain there was trade and interaction).
War was mentioned but what about politics. Some practiced democratic socialism which I believe contributed to the wars and collapse. When a small group of people practice democratic socialism, it works until there are too many in the minority resulting in break-away cultures, war, and the collapse of society.
My guess is that the climate changed as the ice sheets continued to recede north and grasslands turned to desert. The same thing happened in the Middle East and northern Africa.
A channel called Archaix might clear up a lot of depop events over 1000's of yrs. At least 7 major events, like Noah's flood, have been detailed in his research from books . He's written several books and his info is free and amazing.
When anyone asks me how I fire my pottery without a kiln or make pottery without a wheel I tell them to watch your videos and subscribe to your channel
Thank you for the advertisement.

I greatly overestimated. I thought that it was going to be larger as well. Oh well.
